I told her about it earlier and she was VERY interested. Though she's been VERY interested in His Majesty's Dragon, Faded Steel Heat and The Book Thief and hasn't finished any of them. She needs to spend less time online and more time reading old-fashioned printed books.

Do you know who this is, Deborah? I can't remember if you know my LJ handle (which I only have to post to friends' LJs). I live far far away in Utah and eat lots of grilled cheese sandwiches. :)

Gnomic Utterances. These are traditional, and are set at the head of each section of the Guidebook. The reason for them is lost in the mists of History. They are culled by the Management from a mighty collection of wise sayings probably compiled by a SAGE—probably called Ka’a Orto’o—some centuries before the Tour begins. The Rule is that no Utterance has anything whatsoever to do with the section it precedes. Nor, of course, has it anything to do with Gnomes.
