Would it help to skip the papers that come wrapped around the book and not read the author bio? So that you wouldn't know in advance who's a teen writer?

I end trying to teach the authors in my reviews, even when I only have 60 words (a task which is doomed to fail even if it were the right thing to do), trying to say you could fix this book by changing here, and here, and here.

You have an inner editor! That's not a bad thing -- it's yet another career you could have someday. Since your plate is so empty. ;)

Gnomic Utterances. These are traditional, and are set at the head of each section of the Guidebook. The reason for them is lost in the mists of History. They are culled by the Management from a mighty collection of wise sayings probably compiled by a SAGE—probably called Ka’a Orto’o—some centuries before the Tour begins. The Rule is that no Utterance has anything whatsoever to do with the section it precedes. Nor, of course, has it anything to do with Gnomes.
