I'm very curious what the Somebody job was! I didn't really know there *were* library jobs like that - I always expect them to be like my job, where I'm important to the kids and teachers I help every day, but no one outside the school gives a crap.

Which is fine with me most of the time, but sometimes not. What I have to keep reminding myself is that, a) as you say, being a librarian is being Somebody, and b) this is only my first job in this career! We're both still young and have plenty of moving and shaking ahead of us.
