see, that's the thing, I don't think in the book it was cookies for doing the bare minimum. I agree that in the book it really did seem an act of defiance on the part of District 11, rather than a reward for Katniss. It was just the way the whole movie framed the relationship between the two of them which was a little discomfiting. And yeah, race was way more vague in the books.
