One CollDev trick I've turned to more and more often is to check the catalogs/resource lists of the libraries we hope to emulate. Or, when considering an individual title, check WorldCat to see who's decided to add it to the collection. This may possibly be less useful in a specialized collection, or possibly quite revealing indeed.
