I'd just as soon see them spending some more time working out how to make a truly great song.

It's a tough balance, though. Honing an artistic craft is tough, thankless work -- unless, of course, you're getting thanked for it. Publication can be just the encouragement someone needs to keep working at something. That's a difference in temperament, I think.
